Could this be the first year they began laying new water infrastructure after WWII?
TREASURE! Today, despite being 90+ degrees F, was HUGE. I found covers from the 1930s AND 40s, AND got to creep out some security dudes at the Japanese and Saudi Arabian embassies. Despite their gruff glares, I felt nothing but sorry for them in their sweltering black wool suites. Shoulda taken a picture. Oh yeah, and of the address too. Heat is melting not only my pencils but also my brain. I’m including, instead, a picture of me and mama nearby where we first saw this cover on the Schrieberweg in Nussdorf.
I think is really my favorite I’ve found so far. Similar to 1912, 1913, 1921 and 1923, but contains more information, and I really like the TD design in the middle.
It is so hot. Last week it was the rain that played games with me, now it’s the heat! The wax pencils pretty much melt on contact with the iron covers, especially those directly in the sun, as this one was. If you use a light hand, it’s OK, but there are plenty I left unrubbed because of this heat wave (which, I’m told, is basically Vienna summer weather in a nutshell.) Enjoy an ice cream while you browse.
